WDL Private Debt Service

Need expertise in Private Debt investments?

Every situation requires a tailored approach, and that's where we excel. Our specialists are ready to assist and collaborate with you.

We hear it too often: issues arising from loans issued elsewhere. Payment arrears are one such example. Ideally, you want to prevent these situations, but within Private Debt investments, they are not entirely avoidable. Facing problems or need a specialist’s perspective? It’s important to choose accurate and reliable expertise. WDL offers this knowledge and experience through our WDL Private Debt Service. We review the legal documentation and provide advice on proper structuring or possible “repairs.”

Our specialists are also available for advisory services. We offer guidance on the structure of a loan: liabilities, repayments, end dates, consequences of arrears, and the necessary periodic information from the borrower. Additionally, we can provide an opinion on the valuation of Private Debt investments in the financial statements. Our findings are presented in a report that can also be shared with your accountant.

What we offer

Custom

We are specialists in Private Debt. When there are issues in loan portfolios, we seek effective solutions. We combine legal expertise with practical experience to create resolutions. This can range from working with the borrower to help them recover, to refinancing elsewhere, or even enforcing securities. This Private Debt Service can be requested on a per-loan basis.

Risk analyses

Our analyses provide a clear understanding of the risks associated with the specific loan. We assess the likelihood that the borrower can recover and continue to meet interest and repayment obligations, as well as the actual collateral in a worst-case scenario. These risk analyses also enable your accountant or controller to draw accurate conclusions regarding the financial reporting in your loan portfolio.

Complete support

Depending on the specific loan, we can offer additional services. We provide full support for both existing and new loan positions. This includes loan documentation, administration, interest and repayment collections and management throughout the loan term. By keeping a close watch, we minimize potential losses in case of any issues.

A loan should be as uneventful as possible: monthly interest and repayments in your account. Having issues with your loans? We’ll find the solution.

How do we work?

1

Introduction

At WDL, we keep it personal. You have direct contact with a specialist. During the initial meeting, we assess the situation and discuss the objectives of the process. Based on this, our specialist drafts a preliminary action plan and provides a quote.
2

Plan of action

We conduct a much deeper analysis of the situation by reviewing all documentation and, most importantly, examining the borrower in detail. Where lies the core issue, and what scenarios are possible? What steps will we take to achieve the objective? We discuss this action plan together, allowing you to be part of the decision-making process.
3

Execution and periodic feedback

Our specialist begins the execution process, which includes tasks such as discussions with the borrower, gathering information, conducting business and market analyses, financial assessments, inspecting collateral, improving the legal position, guiding the borrower, and discussing how to resolve the issues. The outcomes of these actions are shared with you in periodic reports.
